Release Notes

RELIANOID 8.6 Enterprise Edition builds upon the same Debian 12.14 foundation while introducing enterprise-grade enhancements in kernel support, security enforcement, and system governance. This release is designed for mission-critical environments requiring long-term stability, stronger security controls, and advanced operational management.

The system includes a new long-term support kernel (6.1.174-1-noid0), improving hardware compatibility, performance, and security isolation. Together with Debian 12.14, this provides a hardened and up-to-date platform aligned with the latest upstream security standards.

A major functional enhancement is the introduction of the FarmGuardian check_curl method, enabling advanced HTTP/HTTPS health checks with richer validation logic. This improves backend detection accuracy and strengthens application delivery reliability across complex infrastructures.

Security and compliance improvements are a central focus of this release. A large number of vulnerabilities have been resolved across system libraries, kernel components, and networking subsystems, including high-impact CVEs affecting memory safety, privilege escalation, and denial-of-service conditions. Kernel-level vulnerabilities such as CVE-2026-31431 (Copy Fail), CVE-2026-43284 / CVE-2026-43500 (Dirty Frag), and CVE-2026-46300 (Fragnesia) are explicitly addressed, significantly reducing kernel attack surface and improving system resilience.

Enterprise networking and configuration management have also been strengthened. HTTP farms now support Strict-Transport-Security (STS) enforcement in redirects, reinforcing secure transport policies. SNMP and SSH configuration handling has been improved to prevent unintended overwrites during upgrades, while sysctl management has been hardened to ensure consistent system behavior and prevent configuration loss.

The system upgrade pipeline has been enhanced through improvements in noid-updater, including automatic removal of obsolete kernels, reboot requirement detection, and improved upgrade transparency. IPDS installation processes have been refined, obsolete blacklist migration logic has been removed, and MFA configuration handling has been fixed to prevent file corruption in edge cases.

The Web UI receives dependency updates addressing security vulnerabilities, along with fixes for rule editing, redirect handling, and documentation navigation. Graphing improvements align with Community Edition by correcting RRD base calculations, while backend notifications has been fixed for proper RFC3339 and ISO8601 syslog formatting compatibility.

Overall, RELIANOID 8.6 Enterprise Edition delivers a highly secure, long-term stable, and operationally robust platform designed for enterprise and carrier-grade environments, combining kernel hardening, enhanced observability, improved configuration governance, and extensive vulnerability remediation.
