# Network | Virtual Interface | Create

This section details the steps involved in creating a virtual interface and the available configuration options.

[![relianoid load balancer v8 network virtual interface create](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_network_virtualinterfaces_create_.webp)](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_network_virtualinterfaces_create_.webp)

Here's an overview of each field depicted in the image above:

**Parent Interface**. Selects a **NIC**, **Bonding**, or **VLAN** interface as the parent interface for the virtual interface configuration.
**Virtual Interface Name**. Names the new virtual interface to identify it uniquely. The interface name starts with the parent interface name, followed by a colon and the virtual interface name. The entire name must not exceed 16 characters.
**IP Address**. Sets the network-layer IP address for the new virtual interface. The **Netmask** and **Gateway** configurations will inherit from the parent interface. The IP address must reside in the same network as its parent. Supports both IPv4 and IPv6.

Once all configurations are finalized, click the **Apply** button to create the new virtual interface. If adjustments are needed, you can revert to the previous configuration using the **Revert changes** button.
