# IPDS | Blacklists | Update

This section displays all the settings available for the current blacklist, organized into two tabs: **Global** and **Farms**. Remember to apply any changes by clicking the **Submit** button.

## Global Settings for Local and Remote Backlists

The **Global Settings** for both Local and Remote blacklists include **Name**, **Type**, and **Policy**.

Note that if the blacklist is preloaded, its name cannot be modified. Only user-created blacklists can be edited.

## Local Blacklists Global Settings

Local blacklists require adding a list of IP addresses or subnets in the **Sources** section.

**Name**. Should be descriptive for easy identification.
  **Type**. Indicates that this is a local rule, requiring manual entry of custom IPs.
  **Policy**. Must be set to either **Allow** or **Deny**, depending on the intended effect on your custom IP list.

### Local Sources

The **Sources** section includes the following information:

**Source**. The source IP address or source subnet in IPv4 format, which will be either allowed or denied.

These actions are only possible for custom user-created local lists. They are not applicable to remote lists or preloaded lists. The action can be performed by clicking on the source.

## Remote Blacklists Global Settings

The global settings for a **Remote Blacklist** are described below.

### Updates for Remote Blacklists

The **Updates** section allows you to schedule the download and update of the remote blacklist. There is a green cloud icon to download the blacklist set in the Url field. This lets you verify if the URL works as expected without waiting for the scheduled download.

**Frequency**. The frequency of blacklist updates. The available options are:

- **Daily**. The blacklist will be updated every day. You can update the list multiple times a day or select a specific time for a daily update.

- **Weekly**. The blacklist will be updated once a week. Select a Weekday and a specified **Time** for the update.

- **Monthly**. The blacklist will be updated once a month. Select the Day of the month and a specified Time for the update.
   [![relianoid load balancer v8 ipds remote blacklist monthly](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_ipds_blacklists_monthly.webp)](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_ipds_blacklists_monthly.webp)

The format of the remote file should be a plain text file with one IP address or subnet per line.

Here is an example of a correct blacklist format:

```
This list has been obtained from "blocklist.de". Last update: 07/03/24 07:30:01
1.11.62.195
1.180.189.210
1.180.230.98
1.180.97.138
1.183.7.222
1.183.8.202
1.189.209.20
1.203.74.62
[...]
```

Each line should contain only an IPv4 address. To include an entire **Subnet Range**, use the format **ipv4_address/bits**. For example, **172.14.43.0/24** will cover IP addresses from **172.14.43.1** to **172.14.43.254**.

## Farms Blacklists Settings

This section allows you to assign farms to preloaded or created blacklists through the Farms tab when updating a blacklist.

[![relianoid load balancer v8 ipds blacklist assign farm](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_ipds_blacklists_farms_.webp)](https://static.relianoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/relianoid_EE8_ipds_blacklists_farms_.webp)

In this section, you can select one or more farms (by holding down the **Shift key**) and assign or remove the blacklist rule to/from them. You can also assign or remove it from all available farms using the double arrow buttons.
